Landscape recovery project
Programme Salvar La Geria
La Geria in Lanzarote is a unique and emblematic landscape, world renowned for its vineyards cultivated in pits dug in volcanic ash, creating a surrealistic picture that combines natural beauty with traditional agricultural engineering, being a living testimony of human adaptation to the extreme environment.
Through the programme Salvar La Geria the Cabildo de Lanzarote is carrying out a plan of environmental recovery of the farms with a sense of resilience, conservation of our traditional agriculture, and with the aim of inviting the community to work the land and thus to promote the conservation of La Geria.
All this great work of recovery is being carried out by vulnerable groups of different kinds who through this initiative are being given the opportunity to have a job placement, decent working conditions and remuneration commensurate with their work, which gives this proposal a significant social value.
